  • An emergency contact is required for registration.
  • In the event of an emergency, parents may require someone other than themselves to drop off or pick up their child.  The Day Care Centre staff must be so advised and able to identify the person authorized.  The person will need to show identification.
  • No unauthorized person will be allowed to pick up the child.
  • If a child becomes ill during the day, temporary care will be provided until the parents can be contacted and the child can be taken home.
  • The Centre will contact parents if any of the following symptoms occur: high fever (101), diarrhea, vomiting, spotting,  or discharge from eyes (conjunctivitis).
  • Please note if a child has been sent home with suspected communicable disease, a doctor’s note may be required in order for the child to return to the day care.
  • Regulations require daily outdoor play for each child, therefore it is the Centre’s policy that children too ill to play outside remain at home.


  • The center will only administer prescription drugs.  Before any medication is administered the following instructions must be completed:
  • The Day Care must be informed of the illness requiring medication.
  • If it is contagious, the child cannot remain in the Day Care.
  • Written authorization must include: DATE/CHILD’S NAME/PARENT’S SIGNATURE/NAME AND DOSAGE OF MEDICATION/TIME TO BE ADMINISTERED.
  • The above information is to be written on the medication chart before the medicine can be administered.
  • Medication should be given directly to a teacher, not left in the care of the child, or placed in the child’s cubby bin.
  • Parking, arrival, parking, etc.


The following govern the parking arrangements:

  • Please do not park in front of the main entrance door.
  • Parents are requested to use the driveway west of the houses, and then proceed to the east side of the driveway.
  • If parents do not plan on leaving immediately, they should park in the back or on the road.  This will prevent other parents from being blocked.
  • Parents are requested not to honk their car horn in the driveway.


The following govern the arrival and departure routines:

  • The Day Care operated from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
  • The hours of attendance for a child are established at the time of enrollment.
  • If there are any changes in hours, the Day Care Centre should be informed immediately.
  • At the time of arrival all children must be taken to the teacher in the playroom and checked in.
  • To comply with the Day Nurseries Act, the Day Care Centre is required to have sign in sheets.  When parents arrive with their child, the arrival time must be recorded.
  • Parents must always check with the teacher in attendance before taking their child home.  The time of departure must be recorded, and the identify of the person taking the child be verified by staff.
  • When parents pick up their child from the outdoor playground, they are requested to come directly to the gate.  The children are not to leave the yard unless their parents are at the playground gate.


The following are the requirements for clothing:

  • Parents are requested to dress their child in sturdy play clothes suitable for the season and weather.
  • Parents are requested to supply a complete change of clothes for their child.
  • Clothing should be labeled with indelible ink.
  • In an emergency situation, a child will be lent a change of clothing from the school.  Parents are requested to return the clothing.


The following are the requirements for supplies.

  • Children who are toilet training require at least 4 changes of clothes, training pants, diapers, powder and wet wipes.
  • A blanket should be brought in on Mondays and sent home on Fridays to be washed.


        All the children rest for at least one hour in the afternoon.


The following are the details concerning food arrangements:

  • The children are served a hot nutritious meal at noon.
  • A snack is served in the morning and in the afternoon.
  • Children that require a special diet or with any food restrictions must have their meals supplied by the parent.
  • The Day Care Centre has children with severe food allergies, therefore, children are not to arrive in the morning with food of any kind.


Parents are requested not to bring toys from home to the Day Care.


Charges will be made for Statutory Holidays on which the Day Care Centre will be closed.  The following Statutory Holidays are observed:

  • NEW YEARS DAY         
  • GOOD FRIDAY        
  • VICTORIA DAY    
  • CANADA DAY                    
  • CIVIC HOLIDAY         
  • LABOUR DAY                
  • THANKSGIVING DAY                            
  • CHRISTMAS DAY               
  • BOXING DAY


PLEASE NOTE: THE DAY CARE CLOSES AT 12:00 P.M. ON CHRISTMAS EVE AND NEW YEAR’S EVE.
